About

IMG_2862When my wife was pregnant with our first child, she said one day that our son jumped when he heard my voice.

I found it fascinating!

I’m not the type of a dad who talks to a belly, but I immediately felt that desire to start a relationship with my son – right there, before he was even born.

I started thinking what I would say to him if I had a chance to do so. I found that my message would had been very simple:

„You’re safe. Just stay relaxed, enjoy your time inside your mummy’s belly, grow healthy and smart, have fun, sleep a lot and God bless you!“

Of course there was a language barrier :), but I knew that there were languages where barriers don’t apply and music is one of them.

As a jazz musician I started writing music for him, expressing the dad’s message. It was challenging, as I wanted it to be soothing but still interesting; soft, but engaging and stimulating; improvised and spontaneous, but still controlled and tranquil for the unborn, but also for the mum. I didn’t record it back then, but played some of it at home and kept composing even after Gabriel was born.

A year later we found out that we had another baby coming and that was when I decided to record it. I wrote a few more pieces especially for Nina and organised a session.

  • I recorded it in a church, so I could achieve a natural reverb and spiritual blessing character
  • I asked friends (pianist Paolo Losi and sound engineer Tomasz Brajter) to join the project, so we all could relax and have a bit of a fun
  • I recorded it at night, so it was naturally soothing (and the church was empty 🙂 )
  • I allowed a couple of mistakes on the recording, so it was honest and would feel like live music
  • I didn’t add any digital effects, so it was as natural as possible.

My wife Agnieszka listened to it during the pregnancy and enjoyed it a lot. Now that music is very special to her and whenever she hears it, beautiful memories come.

Today, when I look at Nina, I’m happy as I know that our relationship started very early when I expressed my love from before the first sight, when my heart spoke to hers.

Music is always a very personal thing, but it’s universal too, so I share it with you and hope you enjoy it.

Please, let me know if you do.
